Qualifications

  • o Be at least 21 years old by date of hire;
  • o Be a high school graduate or have a GED;
  • o Have completed a Basic Peace Officer Course by date of hire;
  • o Have a passing score on the State Certification exam, by date of hire;
  • o Have a valid Texas drivers license;
  • o Meet all prerequisites as set by the Texas Commission on Law Enforcement Officer Standards and Education;
  • o Pass an extensive background investigation;
  • o Must pass a physical agility test.

Reserves must meet the same qualifications and pass the same testing as full-time officers.

After filling out a basic city employment application, the candidate must appear and take a written examination.  Candidates are required to pass all portions of the exam.
